Candidates must fulfil one of the two qualification routes:
- B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing from a recognised university or institute, or
- Regular B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised university or institute, or
- Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised university or institute,
- and Registration as Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN or RN & RM) with any State Nursing Council.
- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from a recognised Board or Council,
- Registration as Nurse or Nurse and Midwife with a State Nursing Council, and
- One year of experience in a hospital with at least 50 beds after obtaining the GNM qualification.
Degrees or diplomas obtained through open and distance learning mode will be accepted only if they are recognised for the relevant period as per the Ministry of Education notification dated 10 June 2015. Candidates must ensure that their nursing registration remains valid. Experience certificates should clearly mention the bed strength of the hospital and the exact period of service.
The age of candidates must be between 18 and 35 years as on 03 October 2026. Date of birth recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination certificate will be accepted as final; no request for change will be entertained later.
Age relaxation is available as per government norms:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years
- PwBD + SC/ST: 15 years
- PwBD + OBC: 13 years
- Central Government civilian employees (with minimum three years regular service): 5 years (additional years for OBC/SC/ST)
- Permanent employees of PGIMER: up to 10 years (subject to certain conditions)

Important points to note: reserved-category candidates applying against unreserved vacancies do not get age relaxation. Age relaxation for PwBD and Central Government employees cannot be combined; the more beneficial one is allowed. Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-7 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix. The pay scale is ₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400. In addition to basic pay, they will be entitled to Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (or accommodation, subject to availability), Transport Allowance and other benefits admissible to central government employees of equivalent grade. Shortlisted candidates will undergo scrutiny of applications and documents. A provisional select list and wait list will be prepared purely on the basis of CBT merit. Final selection will be confirmed only after successful document verification with original certificates.
The CBT is expected to be held in 29 cities across India, including Chandigarh/Mohali, Delhi/NCR, Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Patna, Bhopal and several cities in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. - OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificates must be issued between 01 April 2026 and 03 October 2026.
